David Beasley and his wife Ellen reside in Florence, Alabama. David grew up in Jasper and Montgomery, AL. He earned a BS in Pharmacy from Samford University and a Master’s Degree in Personnel Management from Troy State University. He worked as a hospital pharmacist at Caraway Methodist Hospital, Citizens Hospital in Talladega, Veterans Hospital in Montgomery, Shelby Medical Center, and Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. He was President of the Alabama Society of Hospital Pharmacist, Hospital Pharmacist of the Year 1986, and an American Society of Health Systems Pharmacist Fellow and certified as a geriatric pharmacist. David volunteered in the Alabama Air National Guard and served six years as a Radiologist Specialist. He earned the rank as Technical Sargeant and was honorably discharged. His work with medicine has made David passionate about eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus. He believes this to be his opportunity to help resolve a world-wide problem.
David and Ellen are both members of the Kiwanis Club of Florence where David served as Lt.
Governor of Division 2 for two years Alabama District Lt. Gov. and Eliminate Coordinator of Division 3. His work with the Kiwanis Club inspired his first book The History of the Kiwanis Club of Florence, Alabama.
David and Ellen have been married for 45 years and have three children and five grandchildren. When David is not researching medicine or writing about the Kiwanis Club, he also enjoys researching his family heritage, leather craft and is always find something to cut, drag, and pile at his 93 acre farm.
